What do you do with an engagement ring when one party has called off the wedding? If you're 25-year-old Playboy Playmate Crystal Harris and you've recently bailed on your wedding to Hugh Hefner, you put your $90,000 ring up for auction!
According to TMZ, Harris will auction off the mammoth diamond sparkler at Christie's in New York City next month. And despite the hefty price Hef paid to get Harris the 3.39 carat circular-cut diamond, his former fiancée is only expecting to bring in $20,000 to $30,000 for the expensive piece of jewelry.
So why auction it then? Sources close to Harris tell TMZ that the model "couldn't bear to look at the ring anymore because it brought back bad memories."
We would suggest the more tactful approach of returning the ring to Hefner instead of putting it on the chopping block -- but that doesn't seem to be Harris' style.
After writing on her blog that she had the "utmost respect for Hef" following their breakup, Harris went on Howard Stern's Sirius XM radio show to dish unflattering details about her sex life with the Playboy mogul (it lasted "like two seconds," apparently). Though she did later apologize -- after Hefner called her out as a liar -- there were also some nasty rumors swirling that Harris had offered to call off her wedding for half a million dollars.
Hefner has been quick to respond on Twitter to Harris' statements in the past, but so far he has remained silent following the announcement that she's selling her engagement ring. Classy move, Hef. Classy move.
