All week, Bravo execs have been walking a fine line as they've launched season 2 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (Mondays, 9 p.m. ET). Though they decided to air the premiere on schedule, despite the suicide of Taylor Armstrong's husband Russell just three weeks ago, they assured viewers that the season was being re-edited. "We wanted to be and we always are respectful and responsible," exec producer Douglas Ross said, during a Monday morning appearance on NBC's Today. "In this case [we're] trying to be very appropriate to the situation."
Now it seems his idea of "appropriate" includes showing viewers footage of the couple's therapy sessions in the months before Russell's death. "Bravo has made the decision to air their marriage counseling sessions," a source told RadarOnline.com. "Taylor is supportive of the network airing the therapy sessions. Bravo will be looking at those sessions and doing any necessary edits if needed, given Russell's suicide. Both Russell and Taylor were filmed individually during their sessions. Taylor's will definitely be airing, although it's likely that Russell's individual sessions won't be."
RadarOnline acknowledged that a network spokesperson didn't confirm this "mere speculation." But it's tough to bet against this decision. During the Today interview, Ross also said that "it is important to note that Taylor's story is told throughout the season." And the first episode sets the stage for Taylor's marriage to be a prominent storyline for the season as a whole.
Apparently the thinking is: Life, and TV ratings, must go on.
